Sondre Bratland’s release “Rosa frå Betlehem” is for many one of the finest seasonal recordings, having received the Dagbladet accolade of best Norwegian Christmas album. On December 14th it will once again be possible to experience his music in wonderful Stavanger Cathedral along with his regular band comprising Iver Kleive, Knut Reiersrud and Paolo Vinaccia.

Over the last 25 years, Bratland has made a name for himself as one of Norway’s most prominent folk music vocalists. Religious folk songs are his forte, although he has pushed the boundaries between various genres thereby making the folk song accessible to a wider audience.

“Rosa frå Betlehem”, which was recorded in Bethlehem, is a bestselling gem of a Christmas recording. The most exquisite folk songs and psalms are all gathered here on one album. What better way to get into the seasonal spirit than by lending an ear to this music presented by some of Norway’s top performers this last Sunday in advent?
