“I love doing this”, says Slettahjell. “It’s naked and explosive at the same time.”

We are proud to kick off the autumn programme with Solveig Slettahjell at Spor 5. She is one of Norway’s foremost jazz voices, winner of both Norwegian Grammy and Radka Toneff awards and an audience favourite.

Slettahjell has spent a lot of time at the piano. She has picked an exacting selection from her rich repertoire which takes on a new and dynamic articulation in this format.  Jazz classics, Cohen, Waits as well as several of her own compositions can all be heard here, together with some new material written especially for this project, recently released on the «Live at Victoria» album.

Slettahjell calls this project her native format. She began playing the piano as a nine-year-old and it is here she does the lion’s share of her practicing, songwriting and arranging. She has put the format to use on several occasions, creating some powerful TV moments. However, this has now taken on the form of a full-scale concert entirely of her own making.

She has invited drummer Pål Hausken to perform on some compositions.
