One of this year’s hottest festival acts!

Forfatter: Erik Forster

With a rare soulful and powerful voice, vocalist Rohey Taalah is a significant front figure with parallels being drawn by some to greats such as Amy Winehouse and Erykah Badu. His band sound is simultaneously both modern and nostalgic, with soul, funk, pop and jazz references.

The group’s debut album “A Million Things”, released on Jazzland earlier this year, has received rave reviews and is described as “a retro-futuristic jazz-pop gem that embraces funk history, soul greatness and progressive pop. Fantastic vocals embellish this huge grin of a band. Powerful songs, grooves with smart angles. It’s alive, bubbling and boiling”.

Rohey is a young practitioner but has accrued solid live experience after having toured with, among others, Jarle Bernhoft and today the group stands out as a funky, mature and punch packing live band. Stavanger listeners were able to catch Taalah Rohey’s amazing voice at MaiJazz earlier this year together with the band Gurls.

Welcome to a groovy listening experience with Norwegian jazz’s latest shooting star.
