The main thrust is to give the listener an outgoing, communicative and humorous experience

Organ Jam is a quartet comprising some of Norway’s most illustrious jazz musicians. The combination of Hammond B3, drums and two saxophones is rare, and probably the first of its kind in the country. They played their first gig in the autumn of 2010 and have been excellently received for their fresh style.

The combination of baritone, tenor, alto and soprano sax gives the band an exciting, distinctive and untraditional sound while the Hammond B3 with bass pedal gives things a raw, powerful edge. The music can vary from long, subdued sections to full-on swinging bop.

The band members contribute strongly to the repertoire, with both their own compositions and arrangements of familiar and not-so-familiar jazz tunes.

Line-up: Ole Jakob Hystad – tenor and baritone sax, Tor Yttredal – soprano and alto sax, Stein Inge Brækhus – drums, Svein Olav Herstad – Hammond B3
