Stavanger Jazzforum concludes the spring season with a young, new American artist who we can already say will be a voice to be reckoned with in the future. Take note of her name and make a date in your diary, as Jazzmeia Horn has namely already made herself noticed on the jazz scene. In 2015 she won the Thelonius Monk Institute’s international competition and since then the only way has been up.
Performing mainly cover versions of 60s and 70s R&B classics with her own unique signature, she has a rich, diverse and playful register and is nonetheless able to call every performance her own. Her debut album “A Social Call” has received very encouraging reviews and has been Grammy-nominated for “Best Jazz Vocal Album” for 2017.
