We are both proud and delighted to present one of the greatest innovators in jazz – pianist, composer and bandleader Herbie Hancock. Over the course of six decades, Hancock has left his mark not only on jazz, but also pop music. And he’s still going strong.
From being part of Miles Davis’s quintet in the 60s, Hancock moved into the electric jazz-rock sound of the 70s and 80s. Legendary band The Headhunters and collaborative projects with Chick Corea and Wayne Shorter are just some of his musical pinnacles. He has always sought great joint ventures and it is no coincidence that UNESCO has selected him as goodwill ambassador for his dedication and promotion of peace through dialogue, culture and art.
In 2016 Hancock was honoured with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. But the 77-year-old is far from throwing in the towel. Currently working on a new recording, Stavanger listeners can look forward to hearing a most assiduous artist and his powerful band.
Line-up:

Vinnie Colaiuta – drums
James Genus – bass
Lionel Loueke – guitar/vocals
