Their music has been described among other things as “frayed jazz”. Bandleader Dag Magnus Narvesen describes the band as his own personal musical playpen. DAMANA gave their first concert in 2013 at MaiJazz. One of the festival’s best performances, this was strongly influential in the octet’s continuation and further development. Following a run of impressive shows, the band are now poised for a Stavanger revisit – this time with their critically-acclaimed album Cornua Copiae in their gig bag.

DAMANA comprises some of Norway’s leading jazz performers and will be enhanced by one of the UK’s finest trumpeters, Tom Arthurs.

Berlin-based bandleader Dag Magnus Narvesen from Stavanger is a particularly active musician and composer who has worked with big European names such as Alexander von Schlippenbach, Fredrik Ljungkvist and Axel Dörner.
