Our final springtime concert (before handing over to MaiJazz) is a performance by the legendary Japanese pianist Aki Takase, who was last in Stavanger back in 1990 and is this time playing in her very own quintet, Japanic. Their compositions are raw and intense, allowing Takase´s amazing technical piano playing skills to be fully showcased. Their beautiful ballads and thrilling music will draw you in and carry you along with them in a way which hints at both Berlin-style cabaret and other more “liberal” landscapes.
All in all, a superb finish to our Spring 2020 programme!
