Some concerts awaken one’s curiosity more than others. We believe this might be the case this Thursday evening at Spor 5 when Batabrok take the stage with street rapper Runar Gudnason (Side Brok) and guitarist Hedvig Mollestad. Batabrok is a side project by Jon Balke’s newly created percussion ensemble “Batagraf”. Since 2002 the group has put out a number of exciting projects such Pratagraf with Espen Beranek Holm and Are Kalvø.
Batabrok premiered at the Dølajazz festival in Lillehammer. The material is based on rapper Gudnason’s lyrics that spin a myriad of rhythmic vortexes, electrified by Mollestad – one of Norway´s coolest guitarists – and Balke’s electronics. A feisty addition to the language-rhythm debate.
